Blueprint
The name Blueprint is a double entendre salute to Robin’s husband, Jon Lail, a noted Napa Valley architect, and a description of the wine as the outline (blueprint) of our flagship Cabernet J. Daniel Cuvée. Like the 2012, the 2013 Blueprint has a bit of Petit Verdot, with the focus still on early enjoyment in a delicious, crowd-pleasing style.
WINEMAKER NOTES
The 2013 Blueprint Cabernet Sauvignon is dense and dark in color, with a nose that is very impressive with dark notes of black raspberry, licorice, cassis and a hint of blueberry. In the mouth the wine is full bodied with layers of texture, beautifully integrated tannins, and flavors of dark chocolate and blackberry. The combination of the fruit, sweet tannins and the long lingering finish create a classic 2013 vintage with great expectations.

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Blueprint is one of the best versions of this Cabernet Sauvignon I have tasted. A rich, sumptuous wine, the 2013 possesses tremendous intensity. Mocha, torrefaction, smoke, new leather and dark-fleshed fruit, the 2013 captures a great balance of intensity, opulence and freshness, especially for such a big wine. Full-throttle to the core, the 2013 should drink well with minimal cellaring. Once again, Lail’s Blueprint is a fabulous value. — Antonio Galloni, October 2015
