Vintage Information
Never has the phrase ‘all’s well that ends well’ rung so true as in the case of the 2014 Burgundy vintage. Devastating hailstorms in June were followed by a cold and rainy August, where temperatures struggled to reach 20C. These conditions meant that the threat of rot, under-ripe grapes and another low-yielding vintage hung over the growers. Just as all hope was fading, September was bathed in sunshine and rescued the 2014 vintage from the brink of disaster.
Vinification
Grapes were brought straight to the winery and were pressed immediately, to preserve the precious aromas and flavours. The wine went through alcoholic and malo-lactic fermentation using indigenous yeasts only. This new wine from David Moret is given the royal treatment, spending 18 months in French oak, 25% of which was new. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration.
Tasting Notes:
An Aligote with the quality stamp of David Moret, which means lovely balance of power, richness and mineral/citrus elegance from this lesser Burgundian variety. The nicest Aligote you will taste.
