2003 Domaine Du Caillou Chateauneuf-du-Pape Les Quartz
Tasting Note:
A beautiful Chateauneuf du Pape that has aged gracefully and is drinking at point the 2003 Le Clos du Caillou Les Quartz (85% Grenache and 15% Syrah that_s aged in 1-year-old barrels) is a ripe voluptuous effort that offers up layers of sweet black currants garrigue licorice cured meats and a hint of leather to go with a sweetly fruited supple and beautifully textured profile. The tannins are perfectly ripe and while it shows the vintage_s warmth it has superb focus excellent overall freshness and no overripe or roasted traits. While superb now this bottle held up extremely well over the three days I had it open so it_s not going to fall apart anytime soon. Enjoy bottles over the coming 3-5 years. Source: eRobertParker.com
