2004 Kangarilla Road Shiraz Viognier
Tasting Note:
One of my favorite McLaren Vale wineries Kangarilla Road offers very realistic prices for the quality of their wines. A good value the 2004 Shiraz/Viognier is McLaren Vale_s version of a Guigal Cote Rotie La Mouline. A blend of 92% Shiraz and 8% Viognier this black-colored effort was aged 14 months in new French oak. A rich bouquet of pain grille interwoven with exotic spices litchi nuts violets blackberries and cassis soars from the glass of this fragrant nearly ostentatious wine. In the mouth there is dazzling ripeness superb purity an opulent full-bodied mouthfeel and a long heady finish. This terrific Shiraz gracefully carries its 15% alcohol beneath layers of fruit and glycerin. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. Source: Wine Advocate
